Antwerp, 13/07/2026 – Zuidnatie is strengthening its presence in the Port of Antwerp with a new 40,000-square-metre concession previously operated by Somex. The investment provides the company with additional operational capacity and supports Zuidnatie’s continued growth.
Zuidnatie is expanding its terminal by 40,000 square meters with the takeover of a concession from Somex, located opposite Zuidnatie’s South Terminal. The construction works for the expansion will begin on 1 January 2027 and mark an important step in supporting the company’s continued growth. Initially, the location will provide additional capacity for activities currently handled at the existing South Terminal, which has almost reached its maximum capacity.
The first operations at the new terminal will focus on non-water-related logistics activities, including the handling and storage of containers carrying a wide range of goods. This expansion will create greater operational flexibility while preparing the site for future logistic developments.
“This expansion gives us the space we need to continue growing and to better serve our current and future customers,” says Stéphanie Feys, Managing Director of Zuidnatie. “Looking ahead, we plan to invest in several state-of-the-art warehouses at the new location.”
Over the coming years, Zuidnatie will further develop the site into a modern logistics hub with additional warehousing and value-added logistics services. This expansion aligns with Zuidnatie’s long-term vision in which investment, growth and business continuity remain key priorities.
